2025 M Series Owner's Manual Quick Guide

This quick guide provides a condensed overview of the most important information from the 2025 Bullfrog M Series Owner's Manual. It covers startup, controls, JetPak® operation, water care, maintenance, troubleshooting, and warranty coverage for M Series hot tubs.

 Overview

The Bullfrog M Series is the premium luxury spa lineup featuring advanced hydrotherapy, the JetPak® Therapy System, premium touchscreen controls, integrated lighting, premium water care technology, and enhanced comfort features.

The 2025 M Series lineup includes:

  • M9
  • M8
  • M7
  • M6

Depending on the model, your spa may include multiple jet pumps, waterfall features, EOS™ water care systems, Bluetooth audio, illuminated controls, adjustable headrests, and premium hydrotherapy seating.

Important Safety Information

For safe spa operation:

  • Always supervise children around the spa.
  • Keep the cover secured and locked when not in use.
  • Never operate the spa without filters, JetPaks, and headrests installed.
  • Do not place electrical appliances within 5 feet of the spa.
  • Water temperature should never exceed 104°F (40°C).
  • Avoid alcohol or drug use before or during spa use.
  • Test the GFCI before each use.
  • Never dive or jump into the spa.
  • Exercise caution when entering and exiting the spa.
Getting to Know Your Spa

M Series spas may include:

Filling Your Spa

Before filling:

  • Turn off power to the spa.
  • Never power on an empty spa.
  • Do not leave an empty spa exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Avoid filling with softened water unless an appropriate mineral supplement is added.

Filling Procedure

  1. Lift the headrest and Snap Cap assembly behind any JetPak.
  2. Place a garden hose into the opening behind the JetPak.
  3. Fill to approximately the midpoint of the filter intake grate.
  4. Inspect all plumbing and equipment for leaks.
  5. Install and secure the spa cover.

Cover Importance

The spa cover helps:

  • Maintain water temperature
  • Improve energy efficiency
  • Protect the spa from debris
  • Prevent unauthorized access

Always keep the cover locked when the spa is not in use.

Startup and Pump Priming

After restoring power:

  1. Allow the touchscreen control to initialize.
  2. Verify the home screen appears.
  3. Start Pump 1 on low speed.
  4. Once water flow is visible, switch Pump 1 to high speed.
  5. Repeat for additional pumps.

Model-Specific Pump Information

  • M6 and M7 models include two jet pumps.
  • M8 and M9 models include three jet pumps.

All pumps should be primed and verified for water flow after every refill.

Important Priming Information

Never allow a pump to run without water flow for more than two minutes.

If a pump does not prime:

  • Turn the pump off and back on.
  • Repeat no more than five times.
  • If water still does not flow, shut off power and contact your dealer.
External Air Bleeder

The M Series includes an external air bleeder designed to eliminate trapped air after draining and refilling.

Air Bleeder Procedure

  1. Remove the filter cover and filter.
  2. Fill the spa to the proper water level.
  3. Remove the air bleeder screw.
  4. Allow water to flow for approximately 60 seconds.
  5. Reinstall the bleeder screw.
  6. Restore power and test the pumps.

If a NO FLO error occurs, repeat the procedure.

Premium Touchscreen Control (K1000)

The K1000 touchscreen provides access to:

  • Temperature settings
  • Pump operation
  • Lighting controls
  • Water care schedules
  • Maintenance reminders
  • Audio controls
  • Lock settings
  • Date and time
  • Configuration settings

Water Care Modes

Energy Saver (Factory Default)

  • Lowers water temperature during daytime hours.
  • Heats primarily during filtration cycles.
  • Best for maximum energy savings.

Standard

  • Maintains the selected temperature continuously.
  • Ideal for daily spa use.

Super Clean

  • Doubles filtration time.
  • Increases operation of EOS and supplemental water care systems.
  • Recommended during periods of heavy usage.

Weekender

  • Reduces heating Monday through Friday.
  • Maintains full operating temperature on weekends.

Vacation

  • Reduces water temperature by approximately 20°F.
  • Recommended for extended absences of two weeks or longer.
Status Light Indicators

The illuminated M Series logo serves as a spa status indicator.

Solid Light

  • Normal operation.

Slow Fading Flash

May indicate:

  • Filter replacement reminder
  • Water change reminder
  • EOS maintenance reminder
  • Headrest replacement reminder
  • Cover replacement reminder
  • Recommended spa inspection

Three Quick Flashes

May indicate:

  • Flow problem
  • High-limit error
  • Temperature probe issue
  • Overheat condition
  • Freeze protection event
JetPak® Therapy System

The M Series utilizes Bullfrog's interchangeable JetPak Therapy System.

Changing JetPaks

  1. Place the spa in Standby Mode.
  2. Open the Snap Cap assembly.
  3. Release the JetPak.
  4. Remove and exchange the JetPak.
  5. Install the replacement JetPak.
  6. Secure the Snap Cap.

Important Warning

Always handle JetPaks by the black manifold area.

Applying pressure to the acrylic faceplate may damage the JetPak and could void warranty coverage.

Adjusting JetPak Pressure

  • Turn the valve counterclockwise to increase flow.
  • Turn the valve clockwise to decrease flow.

Additional Therapy Jets

Many M Series models include:

  • Foot therapy jets
  • Leg therapy jets
  • Hip therapy jets
  • In-wall therapy jets

Most can be adjusted to customize massage intensity.

Water Care Basics

Proper water chemistry protects bathers, spa equipment, and water clarity.

Recommended Water Balance for FROG® @ease®

  • pH: 7.2–7.6
  • Total Alkalinity: 80–120 ppm
  • Calcium Hardness: 150–250 ppm
  • Total Dissolved Solids: Less than 1500 ppm

Traditional Water Care Targets

  • pH: 7.4–7.6
  • Total Alkalinity: 125–150 ppm
  • Chlorine: 3–5 ppm
  • Bromine: 3–6 ppm

Best Practices

  • Test water 2–3 times per week.
  • Adjust alkalinity before adjusting pH.
  • Shock the water weekly.
  • Use stain and scale inhibitors as necessary.
  • Address cloudy water immediately.

Important Sanitizer Warning

Never use Trichlor chlorine tablets in a Bullfrog Spa.

Trichlor may damage spa surfaces and equipment and can void warranty coverage.

FROG® @ease® Water Care System

M Series spas feature an @ease-ready filtration system.

Benefits

  • Cleaner water
  • Softer water feel
  • Lower chlorine levels
  • Easier maintenance
  • More consistent sanitation

Cartridge Replacement

  • SmartChlor® Cartridge: approximately every 3–4 weeks
  • Mineral Cartridge: every 4 months or during water changes

Monthly Maintenance

Shock the spa monthly using a non-chlorine shock product.

EOS™ and AOP Water Care Systems

Many M Series spas include advanced water care technologies.

EOS™ Ozone System

Benefits include:

  • Reduced sanitizer demand
  • Improved water clarity
  • Reduced shock frequency

Replace the EOS carbon filter approximately every 24 months.

Clear Comfort® AOP System

The Clear Comfort system operates automatically during filtration cycles.

Cartridge Status

  • Blue light = Normal operation
  • Yellow light = Cartridge replacement required

The cartridge generally requires replacement approximately once per year.

Filter Maintenance

The M Series uses the Simplicity® Filter System.

Maintenance Schedule

  • Clean or replace every 4 weeks.
  • Replace filters every 12–16 weeks.
  • Replace sooner during periods of heavy use.

Filter Replacement

  1. Turn off power.
  2. Remove the first JetPak to the right of the main control.
  3. Remove the Simplicity filter holder.
  4. Replace the filter.
  5. Reinstall the holder.
  6. Reinstall the JetPak.
  7. Restore power.

Never operate the spa without a filter installed.

Changing Spa Water

Depending on usage, water should generally be changed every 1–4 months.

Drain Procedure

  1. Turn off power.
  2. Locate the drain below the equipment compartment door.
  3. Pull out the drain assembly.
  4. Remove the drain cap.
  5. Attach a garden hose.
  6. Drain the spa completely.
  7. Refill and rebalance the water.

Always sanitize and balance fresh water before use.

Spa Surface and Cabinet Care

Shell Care

Use:

  • Mild dish soap
  • Approved spa cleaners
  • Soft cloths and sponges

Avoid:

  • Acetone
  • Gasoline
  • Solvents
  • Abrasive cleaners
  • Household chemicals

Cabinet Care

The EternaWood™ cabinet requires minimal maintenance.

For routine cleaning:

  • Use mild soap and water.
  • Rinse thoroughly.
Cover Care

To maximize cover life:

  • Keep it secured and locked.
  • Clean monthly.
  • Remove excessive snow accumulation.
  • Allow it to air dry after cleaning.
  • Use approved fabric protectants when necessary.

Never sit, stand, or place heavy objects on the cover.

Headrest Care

To maximize headrest life:

  • Clean regularly using mild soap and water.
  • Apply approved conditioning products monthly.
  • Remove headrests during shock treatments.
  • Leave the cover open for at least 30 minutes after adding chemicals.

Headrests are consumable items and may require periodic replacement.

Extended Absence and Winter Care

Two to Six Weeks

  • Lower water temperature to 80°F (26°C).
  • Continue maintaining water chemistry.
  • Check spa operation weekly.

Longer Than Six Weeks

  • Activate Vacation Mode.
  • Consider winterizing the spa if it cannot be maintained.

Winterization Overview

  1. Super sanitize the water.
  2. Drain the spa completely.
  3. Open all lower JetPak valves.
  4. Vacuum water from plumbing lines.
  5. Remove pump drain plugs.
  6. Loosen plumbing unions.
  7. Clean the shell and JetPaks.
  8. Clean or replace the filter.
  9. Secure the cover.
  10. Remove remaining water from plumbing.
  11. Add RV antifreeze if necessary.

Freeze Protection

The M Series includes automatic freeze protection that circulates water and activates heating when freezing temperatures are detected.

Common Troubleshooting

Spa Will Not Heat

Possible causes:

  • Temperature set too low
  • High-limit sensor activation
  • Heating system malfunction

Weak Jets

Possible causes:

  • Closed jet valves
  • Dirty filter
  • Air trapped in plumbing
  • Blocked suction fitting

Jets Surge On and Off

Possible causes:

  • Low water level
  • Dirty filters

Pump Shuts Off Unexpectedly

Possible causes:

  • Automatic timer cycle completed
  • Restricted equipment ventilation
  • Pump overheating

Repeated GFCI Trips

Possible causes:

  • Wiring issue
