# 2025 A Series Owner's Manual Quick Guide
## This quick guide provides a condensed overview of the most important information from the 2025 Bullfrog A Series Owner's Manual. It covers startup, controls, JetPak® operation, water care, maintenance, troubleshooting, and warranty information for A Series hot tubs.
Overview
The Bullfrog A Series combines premium hydrotherapy, customizable JetPak® therapy, advanced touchscreen controls, energy-efficient operation, and simplified water care systems.
The 2025 A Series lineup includes:
- A5L
- A6
- A6L
- A7
- A7D
- A7L
- A8
- A8L
- A9L
Depending on the model and trim level, your spa may include EOS water care technology, premium lighting, water features, auxiliary controls, enhanced audio, and advanced therapy options.
Important Safety Information
For safe spa operation:
- Always supervise children around the spa.
- Keep the spa cover locked when not in use.
- Never operate the spa without filters and JetPaks installed.
- Do not use electrical appliances within 5 feet of the spa.
- Water temperature should never exceed 104°F (40°C).
- Avoid alcohol or drugs before and during spa use.
- Test the GFCI before use.
- Consult your physician before spa use if pregnant or if you have medical conditions involving circulation, blood pressure, or heart health.
- Never dive or jump into the spa.
Getting to Know Your Spa
A Series spas may include:
- Premium A1000 touchscreen control
- Auxiliary seat controls
- JetPak® Therapy System
- Water feature
- Interior LED lighting
- Lighted cup holders
- Foot, leg, wrist, and hip therapy jets
- EOS water care system
- Simplicity® filter system
- Optional audio system
The equipment compartment may contain:
- Jet pumps
- Water heater
- Control box
- EOS ozone/AOP equipment
- EOS carbon filter
- Drain assembly
- Audio equipment
Filling Your Spa
Before filling:
- Turn off power to the spa.
- Open all JetPak valves and adjustable jets.
- Never power on an empty spa.
- Avoid filling with softened water unless appropriate mineral supplements are added.
### Filling Procedure
1. Remove any JetPak.
2. Place a garden hose into the JetPak bulkhead.
3. Fill to the water level indicator or just above the midpoint of the filter intake grate.
4. Inspect equipment and plumbing for leaks.
5. Install and secure the cover.
### Cover Importance
The spa cover helps:
- Maintain water temperature
- Improve energy efficiency
- Protect the spa from debris
- Prevent unauthorized access
Always keep the cover locked when the spa is not in use.
Startup and Pump Priming
After restoring power:
1. Allow the control system to initialize.
2. Verify the home screen appears.
3. Turn on Pump 1 at low speed.
4. After water begins flowing, switch to high speed.
5. Repeat for additional pumps if equipped.
6. Verify water flow through all associated jets.
### Important Priming Information
Never allow pumps to run without water flow for more than two minutes.
If water flow is not established:
- Turn the pump off and back on.
- Repeat no more than five times.
- If the pump does not prime, turn off power and contact your dealer.
### External Air Bleeder
The A Series includes an external air bleeder designed to help eliminate trapped air after draining and refilling.
If a pump fails to prime or a flow error occurs:
1. Turn power off.
2. Remove the air bleeder screw.
3. Allow water to flow from the bleeder fitting for approximately 60 seconds.
4. Reinstall the screw.
5. Restore power and test the pumps again.
Premium Touchscreen Control (A1000)
The A1000 touchscreen allows users to control:
- Temperature settings
- Pump operation
- Lighting
- Water care schedules
- Maintenance reminders
- Audio controls
- Lock settings
- Date and time
- Standby mode
### Universal Unlock Code
If the control panel becomes locked, the universal unlock code is:
**3732**
Water Care Modes
### Energy Saver (Factory Default)
- Reduces water temperature during daytime hours.
- Heats during filtration cycles.
- Provides maximum energy savings.
### Standard
- Maintains the selected temperature continuously.
- Ideal for daily use.
### Super Clean
- Doubles filtration time.
- Increases operation of supplemental water care systems.
- Ideal during high-use periods.
### Weekender
- Uses economy settings Monday through Friday.
- Maintains full temperature on weekends.
### Away (Vacation)
- Reduces temperature by approximately 20°F.
- Ideal for extended absences.
Status Light Indicators
The illuminated A Series badge acts as a status indicator.
### Solid Light
- Normal operation.
### Slow Fading Flash
May indicate:
- Filter replacement reminder
- Water change reminder
- EOS maintenance reminder
- Headrest replacement reminder
- Cover replacement reminder
### Three Quick Flashes
May indicate:
- Low flow condition
- High-limit error
- Temperature sensor error
- Freeze condition
- Overheat condition
Auxiliary Controls
Many A Series models include auxiliary controls located throughout the spa.
Functions may include:
- Pump operation
- Water feature operation
- Light controls
These controls allow users to access key spa functions without leaving their seat.
JetPak® Therapy System
One of the defining features of the A Series is the patented interchangeable JetPak Therapy System.
### Changing JetPaks
1. Place the spa in Standby Mode.
2. Remove the existing JetPak.
3. Align the replacement JetPak.
4. Press firmly until the JetPak locks into place.
### Important Warning
Always handle JetPaks using the designated handhold and manifold area. Pressure applied to the acrylic faceplate may damage the JetPak and void warranty coverage.
### Adjusting JetPak Pressure
- Turn the JetPak valve counterclockwise to increase pressure.
- Turn clockwise to decrease pressure.
Many shell-mounted jets can also be adjusted to customize massage intensity.
Water Care Basics
Proper water chemistry protects bathers, spa equipment, and water quality.
### Recommended Water Balance
For FROG® @ease® systems:
- pH: 7.2–7.6
- Total Alkalinity: 80–120 ppm
- Calcium Hardness: 150–250 ppm
- Total Dissolved Solids: Less than 1500 ppm
For traditional sanitation:
- pH: 7.4–7.6
- Total Alkalinity: 125–150 ppm
- Chlorine: 3–5 ppm
- Bromine: 3–6 ppm
### Water Care Best Practices
- Test water 2–3 times per week minimum.
- Adjust alkalinity before pH when necessary.
- Shock the water weekly.
- Use stain and scale prevention products.
- Use clarifier if water becomes cloudy.
### Important Sanitizer Warning
Never use Trichlor chlorine tablets in a Bullfrog Spa.
Trichlor can damage spa surfaces and components and may void warranty coverage.
FROG® @ease® Water Care System
All A Series spas are equipped with an @ease-ready sanitation system.
### Benefits
- Cleaner water
- Softer water feel
- Lower chlorine levels
- Simplified maintenance
- More consistent sanitation
### Cartridge Replacement
- SmartChlor® Cartridge: approximately every 3–4 weeks
- Mineral Cartridge: every 4 months or with each drain and refill
### Monthly Maintenance
Shock the spa monthly using an approved non-chlorine shock product.
EOS Water Care System
Many A Series spas include the EOS premium ozone purification system.
Benefits include:
- Reduced sanitizer demand
- Improved water clarity
- Reduced shock frequency
- Enhanced oxidation
The EOS carbon filter cartridge generally requires replacement approximately every 24 months.
Filter Maintenance
The A Series uses the Simplicity® Filter System.
### Maintenance Schedule
- Clean or replace approximately every 4 weeks.
- Replace filters every 12–16 weeks.
- Replace sooner if water quality declines or heavy usage occurs.
### Filter Replacement Procedure
1. Turn off power.
2. Remove the JetPak nearest the filter compartment.
3. Remove the filter holder.
4. Remove and replace the filter.
5. Reinstall the filter holder.
6. Reinstall the JetPak.
7. Restore power.
Never operate the spa without a filter installed.
Changing Spa Water
Spa water should generally be replaced every 1–4 months depending on use and water conditions.
### Drain Procedure
1. Turn off power.
2. Pull out the drain assembly.
3. Remove the drain cap.
4. Attach a garden hose.
5. Drain the spa completely.
6. Refill using the recommended filling procedure.
7. Rebalance and sanitize the water.
Always super sanitize fresh water before use.
Spa Surface and Cabinet Care
### Shell Care
Use:
- Mild dish soap
- Approved acrylic cleaners
- Soft cloths and sponges
Avoid:
- Acetone
- Gasoline
- Solvents
- Abrasive cleaners
- Household chemicals
### Cabinet Care
EternaWood™ cabinets generally require only mild soap and water for routine cleaning.
Cover Care
To maximize cover life:
- Keep it secured and locked.
- Clean monthly.
- Allow it to air dry completely after cleaning.
- Remove excessive snow accumulation.
- Use approved fabric protectants when necessary.
Never stand, sit, or place heavy objects on the cover.
Headrest Care
To extend headrest life:
- Clean regularly using mild soap and water.
- Apply approved conditioning products monthly.
- Remove headrests during shock treatments.
- Leave the cover open for at least 30 minutes after chemical treatments.
Improper water chemistry and excessive sanitizer levels can significantly shorten headrest life.
Extended Absence and Winter Care
### Two to Six Weeks
- Lower temperature to 80°F (26°C).
- Maintain water chemistry.
- Check spa operation weekly.
### More Than Six Weeks
- Activate Away Mode.
- Consider winterization if the spa cannot be monitored.
### Winterization Overview
1. Super sanitize the water.
2. Drain the spa.
3. Open all lower JetPak valves.
4. Vacuum water from plumbing lines.
5. Remove pump drain plugs.
6. Loosen plumbing unions.
7. Clean the shell and JetPaks.
8. Clean or replace the Simplicity filter.
9. Secure the cover.
10. Remove remaining water from plumbing.
11. Add RV antifreeze if necessary.
### Freeze Protection
The A Series includes automatic freeze protection that circulates and heats water when freezing temperatures are detected.
Common Troubleshooting
### Spa Will Not Heat
Possible causes:
- Low temperature setting
- High-limit sensor activation
- Heater malfunction
### Weak Jets
Possible causes:
- Dirty filter
- Closed JetPak valves
- Airlock
- Blocked suction fittings
### Jets Surge On and Off
Possible causes:
- Low water level
- Dirty filter
### Repeated GFCI Trips
Possible causes:
- Wiring problem
- Defective breaker
- Failed spa component
### Common Error Messages
