# 2024 Swim Series Owner's Manual Quick Guide

## This quick guide summarizes the key information from the 2024 Bullfrog Spas Swim Series Owner’s Manual. It covers setup, startup procedures, swim current operation, water care, filtration, maintenance, fitness features, troubleshooting, and warranty coverage for Swim Series models including the S150, S180, S180XD, and S200.

### Overview

Bullfrog Spas Swim Series models combine swim training, aquatic fitness, hydrotherapy, and family recreation in a single all-in-one swim spa. Features include adjustable swim currents, JetPak® therapy seats, touchscreen controls, fitness accessories, and advanced water care systems. Proper maintenance and operation will help maximize performance and product longevity.

 Swim Series Models

The 2024 Swim Series lineup includes:

- S150
- S180
- S180XD

 Getting to Know Your Swim Spa

Depending on model and options, your Swim Series may include:

- Touchscreen main control
- Auxiliary control
- Simplicity® filtration system
- JetPak® Therapy System
- Dual swim current jets
- Swim and exercise rail
- Exercise seat
- Easy-entry steps
- LED lighting
- Splash pad area
- Clear Comfort® AOP water care system
- Optional audio system

The equipment compartment contains:

- Jet pumps
- Filtration pump
- Heater
- Control system
- Clear Comfort AOP system
- CloudControl® module
- Audio equipment (if equipped)
- External air bleeder
- Drain assembly

 Filling Your Swim Spa

Before filling:

- Turn off power.
- Open all JetPak valves and adjustable jets.
- Never power up an empty swim spa.

### Filling Procedure

1. Select a seat with a JetPak.
2. Push the JetPak forward to expose the opening behind it.
3. Place a garden hose into the opening.
4. Fill to the water level indicator or midpoint of the filter intake grate.
5. Check all plumbing and equipment for leaks.
6. Install and secure the cover.

 Startup and Pump Priming

After power is restored:

1. Allow the control system to initialize.
2. Wake and unlock the touchscreen.
3. Prime Pump 1 on low speed, then high speed.
4. Repeat for all additional pumps.
5. Switch to Swim Mode.
6. Start the swim current and confirm flow from both swim jets.

### Important Priming Warning

Never allow pumps to operate for more than two minutes without water flow. If pumps fail to prime, follow the air bleeder procedure before continuing operation.

 External Air Bleeder Procedure

If air becomes trapped in the plumbing:

1. Remove the filter cover and filter.
2. Fill the swim spa to the proper level.
3. Remove the air bleeder screw.
4. Allow water to flow until a steady stream appears.
5. Reinstall the screw.
6. Restore power and verify proper pump operation.

If a NO FLO message appears, repeat the process.

 Using Swim Mode

The Swim Series control allows users to switch between:

- Spa Mode
- Swim Mode

### Swim Functions

The touchscreen allows adjustment of:

- Swim current speed
- Warm-up periods
- Cool-down periods
- Preparation countdown timers
- Workout step timing
- Light feedback alerts

 Pre-Programmed Swim Drills

The Swim Series includes five workout programs:

### Endurance

Maintains a constant current intensity for the selected workout duration.

### Lap

Alternates between high and low-intensity intervals.

### Transition

Provides random intensity changes throughout the workout.

### Cardio

Uses two high-intensity intervals followed by one lower-intensity interval.

### Power

Uses a pyramid structure where intensity gradually increases to maximum and then decreases.

### Personalized Workouts

Users can create and save up to three custom swim drills tailored to their training preferences.

 Water Care Modes

### Energy Saver (Factory Default)

Reduces water temperature during daytime hours and heats during filtration cycles.

### Standard

Maintains the set temperature continuously.

### Vacation

Reduces temperature by 20°F during extended periods of non-use.

### Super Clean

Doubles filtration time and increases operation of supplemental water care systems.

### Weekender

Reduces heating on weekdays and maintains normal temperature on weekends.

 JetPak® Therapy System

### Interchanging JetPaks

1. Place the swim spa into Standby Mode.
2. Remove the existing JetPak.
3. Install the desired JetPak.
4. Push firmly until it locks into place.

### Adjusting JetPak Flow

- Turn counterclockwise to increase pressure.
- Turn clockwise to decrease pressure.

### Adjustable Therapy Jets

Many therapy jets throughout the swim spa can be adjusted to customize hydrotherapy intensity.

 Water Care Basics

### Recommended Water Balance

- pH: 7.4–7.6
- Total Alkalinity: 125–150 ppm
- Chlorine: 3–5 ppm

### Swim Series Water Care Recommendations

- Test water at least twice weekly.
- Shock water weekly.
- Maintain correct sanitizer levels.
- Use stain and scale protection when necessary.
- Use water clarifier when needed.

### Important Warning

Trichlor chlorine tablets should never be used in Swim Series spas because they can damage components and void warranty coverage.

Bullfrog also does not recommend bromine for Swim Series models because it may damage the non-slip aquatic surface.

 Simplicity® Filter Maintenance

The Swim Series uses Bullfrog's Simplicity flat filter system.

### Filter Replacement Schedule

- Replace every 4 weeks or as necessary.
- Use genuine Bullfrog Simplicity filters.

### Filter Replacement Procedure

1. Place the swim spa in Standby Mode.
2. Remove the JetPak covering the filter compartment.
3. Remove the filter holder.
4. Replace the filter.
5. Reinstall the holder and JetPak.
6. Return the system to normal operation.

 Cleaning Filter Intake Screens

The Swim Series includes dual screened intake baskets for capturing larger debris.

Regularly inspect and remove:

- Leaves
- Insects
- Organic debris
- Other large contaminants

 Clear Comfort® AOP Water Care System

Clear Comfort AOP is standard on Swim Series models and helps reduce sanitizer demand through advanced oxidation processes.

### Cartridge Maintenance

- Blue cartridge light = Normal operation
- Yellow cartridge light = Cartridge replacement needed
- Cartridge replacement is typically required approximately once per year.

 Changing Swim Spa Water

Because of their larger water volume, Swim Series models generally require water changes less frequently than traditional spas.

### Recommended Water Change Interval

- Approximately every 6 months

### Drain Procedure

1. Turn off power.
2. Extend the drain assembly.
3. Attach a garden hose.
4. Push the drain halfway in to begin draining.
5. Drain completely.
6. Replace drain cap and return assembly to its stored position.

 Cover Care

To maximize cover life:

- Keep the cover secured when not in use.
- Clean monthly.
- Allow the cover to dry completely after washing.
- Remove snow accumulations greater than 2 inches.
- Use approved fabric protectants when necessary.

 Headrest Care

To extend headrest life:

- Clean regularly with mild soap and water.
- Use approved conditioners.
- Remove headrests during shock treatments.
- Ventilate the swim spa after shocking.

 Winter Care and Extended Absences

### Two to Six Weeks

- Lower temperature to 80°F.
- Use Energy Saver mode.
- Continue water maintenance and weekly monitoring.

### Longer Than Six Weeks

- Activate Away Mode.
- Consider winterization if maintenance cannot be performed.

### Winterization Overview

1. Drain the swim spa.
2. Open all JetPak valves.
3. Vacuum plumbing lines.
4. Remove pump drain plugs.
5. Clean shell and JetPaks.
6. Remove filters.
7. Secure the cover.
8. Vacuum remaining water from plumbing.

 Common Troubleshooting

### Spa Will Not Heat

Possible causes:

- Thermostat setting
- High-limit sensor activation
- Heater malfunction

### Weak Jets

Possible causes:

- Closed jet valves
- Dirty filter
- Airlock
- Blocked suction fitting

### Jets Surge On and Off

Possible causes:

- Low water level
- Dirty filters

### Repeated GFCI Trips

Possible causes:

- Electrical wiring issue
- Defective breaker
- Failed spa component
